The Society is governed by up to a 21-member Board of Directors composed of four Officers: Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer; and, 17 Members. The Board includes federal wilderness managing agency liaisons representing the Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service, US Forest Service, Aldo Leopold Wilderness Research Institute, and Arthur Carhart National Wilderness Training Center. Terms are staggered and last 3 years (board members are allowed to serve consecutive terms). The duties of Board members are outlined in the National Officer Roles and Agency Liaison Statements. The Board manages the Society according to the terms of its Constitution and
Bylaws
and conducts business during monthly conference calls and an annual meeting.
