Wild Adventures

The best part of being in our Community of Practice is spending time together in the wildest of places.  We host one or two trips a year that serve to connect you with colleagues and friends, reunite you with amazing wilderness lands, and help you slake your adventure thirst.  Learn more about 2017 trips and sign up below.

Selway Bitterroot

June 22-25, 2017

Rafting, hiking, and hot springs, oh my!  Join us in the wilds of Idaho.  You'll arrive Thursday late afternoon in time for dinner and a campfire at Powell Ranger Station (on the Nez Perce Clearwater National Forest) with SWS staff, board members, and Wilderness Fellows.  Friday is an all-day float trip through the class IV+ rapids of the Lochsa (Nez Perce for "rough water") River, which was designated Wild and Scenic in 1968.  After a great day on the water we'll have dinner together at the nearby Lochsa Lodge.  Thursday and Friday you can either camp at Powell Campground, or stay in a lodge room or cabin at the Lochsa Lodge.  Saturday will take us to the Wilderness Gateway campground downriver, where we'll hike 5 miles in to Stanley Hot Springs.  We'll camp overnight at Stanley, and hike back on Sunday.  All three and a half days will be filled with great community, meaningful conversation, and fantastic adventure.  For trip specifics and to sign up, click here.
