Ways to Leave a Legacy
Donor-Advised Funds (DAF)
A Donor Advised Fund allows you to combine your tax benefits with a strategic approach to giving. You can contribute cash or securities to your DAF, take an immediate tax deduction, and recommend grants to SWS over time.
Get Started: Direct your DAF manager to issue a grant to the Society for Wilderness Stewardship.

Wills & Trusts
Include the Society for Wilderness Stewardship in your estate plans. Naming SWS as a beneficiary in your will or living trust is a powerful way to secure the long-term future of our American wilderness without impacting your current cash flow.
Beneficiary Designations
You can name SWS as a full or partial beneficiary of your life insurance policy, 401(k), IRA, or bank accounts. This process is typically as simple as filling out a single change-of-beneficiary form with your account provider.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD)
If you are 70½ or older, you can instruct your IRA administrator to make a direct, tax-free distribution of up to $100,000 per year to SWS. This satisfies your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without adding to your taxable income.
